Berislava

Berislava was born near Belgrade in Yugoslavia. She started painting in 1976 and first exhibited in 1986. With a background in social work, she has incorporated art as therapy in her career. In 1991, 1992, and1993 she participated in charitable actions for a happier childhood, and has received Red Cross medals for humanitarian work.

Berislava dreamed of moving to New Zealand for many years before she finally emigrated in 1994. She very quickly made a name for herself in New Zealand both in the art world and as a teacher.

Berislava has a distinctive style using oils on canvas to capture sea and sky with a few bold strokes, and expressing emotion through color.

Berislava's oil paintings can be found in private collections on four continents and in galleries in the USA, Australia, and New Zealand.

Berislava currently resides in Australia.
