John Mason

John Mason was born in 1958 in Carmel, CA. As a child he was exposed to the many joys of art, sculpture, painting, and music. By the age of 14 John was already selling his works through galleries and went on to teach both painting and printmaking.

At 19 he moved to Big Sur where he studied painting and sculpture with Yuri Ordjonikidze. Soon Mason was able to open his own gallery in Carmel. Visionary Publishing marketed his work internationally in the form of calendars, cards, puzzles, book covers, album covers, posters, and prints. Many commissions were done for collectors and celebrities as well.

Over the years John has developed a distinctive dreamlike style of painting "from the mind's eye" that has gained an impressive following.

Mason has also been involved with numerous digital art projects for Sony, Apple, IBM, and Fisher Price to name a few. His multimedia productions include award-winning software and musical compositions. He has illustrated several books and worked with notable authors. Currently John Mason spends much of his time painting, playing music, and enjoying Maui.
