Vladimir Sorin

Sorin was born in 1966 in the city of Kishnev, Moldova. His natural talent won him entrance to Schusev Art School as a young boy. A scholarship to the National Art Academy led to a Masters in Fine Art after which he worked painting backdrops for the national opera house and was art director for a movie house and an advertising agency.
Sorin has developed a personal style that allows him to depict his subject with photorealistic clarity using traditional painting techniques combined with soft light and warm colors to create a romantic realism that is more like a dream-like "ultra memory."
Sorin is an avid photographer and gets many of his ideas while cycling or hiking in the countryside with his camera. He has sold over 800 paintings since 1996. His poetic landscapes have become a part of personal collections throughout Europe and America. At the 1998 Olympics the group from Moldova presented the President of the Olympic Committee with a landscape by Sorin. His talent is so highly regarded that he is called upon by the museum whenever a national treasure is in need of repair or restoration. Sorin is married and has one daughter.
