Eucharist III

The history of the painting is as follows: One cold winter night I was sitting in my studio, contemplating the universe while watching a burning candle. Everything was so simple. I saw this image in my mind and painted the idea as if I could actually see it there before me. I suppose the idea was given to me from above, and this makes me very happy. It was a sacred gift.

The main thought here is that the essence of God as Teacher is cardinally different from the human essence of the apostles. Christ as the flame, the apostles as the wax, malleable and shaped by the flame... this imagery provides fertile ground for further meditations on Christianity.

It is gratifying to me to imagine how my paintings will give pleasure to others... may this painting bring only good things to your life.

The first two versions of the Eucharist image sold out so quickly that Victor had to paint this third version to answer the demand. Each painting is slightly different as the artist evolves his perception.
