Alexander Volkov painted our beloved Lahaina, capturing a quiet moment of the usually bustling town.

Our Gallery Director, Kim Jacoby, was able to visit the fire site recently. Found buried under the ashes, Lori Higgins' "Spirit of Aloha" was the only art to survive the fire.

A strong symbol of the welcoming spirit of Hawaii and also emblematic of the strength of Hawaii's people. With the support of those who love our tropical paradise, Maui and its people can come back even stronger from this tragedy.

Lori Higgins' beautiful bronze sculpture will become part of the memorial to historic Lahaina Town.

Alexander Volkov

Alexander started as an animator at Leningrad Studio of Science Films and later worked as a stage artist in a Leningrad theater. He has lived in the United States with his family for many years where he perfected his technique as a painter. Combining a lifelong fascination with architecture, landscape, and still life subjects, Alexander brings drama and poetic expression into his work. With his unique vision, he merges mood and atmosphere, evoking powerful emotions that create harmony.

"There is no greater mystery to me than the conflict of light and dark. In the way they clash and penetrate each other, there is the source of everything. Whether I paint a landscape, a still-life, or a portrait, within it there is always a story of light traveling through darkness."
