Shortly after Victor Bregeda first came to Maui, he went on a trip to Hana. Hana is the region of Maui where the tropical rainforest is the most lush. Visions is a self-portrait of painting in Hana. In the center of the painting is a woman, one of the forces of nature, with her hair as the waterfall. At the base of the waterfall to the right and left are two smaller figures, created from the mist of the waterfall. In the sunlit mountain to the left is an image of a male face. Some people see this image as the face of Christ; others see it as representing King Kahakili, one of the last ruling Hawaiian kings of Maui. It could also be regarded as a personification of the energy of the land of Hawaii (the aina), or, as a mountain spirit. In the pool to the lower right of the painting is the face of a Hawaiian woman, with her hair as the currents in the stream.
